    12Mbps? you sure you didn't mean 1.5GBs?

Thanks for pointing out the typo - I meant 12 Gbps.

As always, the iPod is Apple's real cash cow.

Too bad for those of us who wish they would divert a little more of their attention to their computer line.

Did I not see that 58% of the revenue came from the computers? How does this make the iPod the cash cow?

I guess they could build it into iTunes in some fairly fluid way, but still.

Yay....more itunes bloat! They really need to ditch iTunes all together. It's turned into a piece of crap.

    Merlot - I like it!

maybe osx 11 can be named after whales. as each release gets more and more bloated the name would reflect that - os 11 narwhal, os 11.9 blue. not sure how marketing's going to handle sperm though.

Nice upgrade :) ... but I was hoping for an 500GB SSD option :(

Apple's SSDs are always overpriced and slower than third-party ones anyways.

    Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_2 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8H7 Safari/6533.18.5)

maybe our day will come soon,

Just seems mental how the iMacs are now on second generation Core i processors, yet the Mini is still on C2D.

I've just downloaded the update on my iPhone and iPad and i noticed that on the iPad (not iPhone) in the General Setings now there is now a multitouch gestures button to enable this function. It suports 4 fingers up to show the app switcher, 4 fingers to the sides to switch apps and 5 fingers to the centre to go to the home screen.

    It works great!

I have the iPad 2 running 4.3.1 and I have no such setting available.

Before this comes out, Apple is going to have to let consumers know that they make the iPod. Not Microsoft.

Some people may think it's the new iPod, judging by the picture on engadget, and this thread/article posted earlier (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=191119) saying that most people don't know the iPod is made by Apple.

If people think this 'Micropod' is the new iPod it could be over for Apple, unless they release something at the same time.

BTW, about the picture posted on engadget, the buttons look '3G iPodish'. Maybe Microsoft is going to try and play catch up with MP3 players now :p edit: missed bcharna's post
OK, and were not on planet earth hehe... If people are that stupid then the worlds definitely gone for sure!
C'mon, apple will adhere to wireless USB technology and you can have your WIFI... could you imagine how long it will take to get high def audio files into it? I listen to 16 bit AIFF's @ 48 Khz and they are big files, this would take forever on a WIFI protocol. This is for the kids man!

Great to see another virtual machine app for osx/intel. I can't wait to get my hands on one and try all this new fun stuff out! I feel so left out.

...i'd install avid in parallels. ... more features quicker.

OMG! Avid in a virtual machine? I doubt, and I know I'm old and cranky, that Avid will ever work convincingly in a VM environment. Bootcamp hopefully one day.

Apple should integrate iCal, Mail and Address Book already.

    whatever
    Oct 23, 11:23 AM
Watch, it probably really means it instantly voids the MS support part of the Vista purchase for that license.

Would be just peachy that Apple offers zero support for running Vista on a Mac, and MS does the same for those doing it via virtualization.

Probably forsee a support headache coming down the path. :p
Why should Apple offer support for Vista on a Mac.

Anyone who is willing to run Vista on a Mac are ussually technical and smart enought to search different support forums for the answers that they need.

so it is normal. this does not mean that anyone, technician or CEO, said it is acceptable. the technicians notes, imho, seem to merely state that the phone works as expected, normally, regardless of the networks issues.

Thanks for saying it before I had to. Normal does not mean acceptable. Just like it's normal to be overweight in the U.S., this does not make it acceptable (although many seem to think so and take pride in it).

it is not against the law in any way to give a different deal to someone else. Amazon bring more to the table than Apple and to add to it Apple strong arming has pissed a lot of people off and they want to break Apple strong hold.

Exactly. Apple says they will pay 70% to the music companies. They worked out their deals with them at that rate. If another company wants to sell music, they by no means have to get the same deal as every other company selling music. It?s just nuts to think that way.

All companies go and negotiate their own deals. Wal-Mart negotiates for most products they sell. They never say ?What?s Target paying you?, we have to match that? but they might say ?What?s Target paying you?, we have to BEAT that? They could end up paying more or less depending on how good the company is at negotiating. Also bigger companies with more products sold normally will get a better deal. A lot of companies would be screwed if Wal-Mart stopped carrying their products. This leverage allows Wal-Mart to work out great deals.

Nothing is preventing Apple from reworking their deals. However no company has to change any deal unless they both agree to terms.

Stop feeling ?poor Apple? just because another company ?may? have a better deal. It?s just business.
